Elden Ring Ver.1.04 is now live, bringing balance changes & new event phases for NPC “Patches” [Update]

FromSoftware has released a new Ver.1.04 update for Elden Ring, and it brings numerous balance adjustments to weapons, spells, and skills, along with new event phases for the NPC “Patches.” There’s now an option to turn the camera auto-rotate function ON/OFF as well, which is likely a welcoming addition to many players who had trouble with the camera control.

In terms of balance changes, Colossal Swords/Colossal weapons received a number of buffs, while the effect of Greatshield Talisman for weapons with a high block rate was nerfed. Overall, they didn’t make significant changes to weapons, skills, sorceries, and incantations that are already strong. Instead, it seems like they focused on tweaking relatively unpopular weapons and skills to make them stronger.

The latest patch brings performance improvements and bug fixes as well. Players have been reporting performance issues ever since the game’s launch, so let’s hope this update alleviates some of the problems. Although no details were given in the patch notes regarding some of the bug fixes, users on social media are already noticing that some Rune farming techniques are no longer usable.

The full patch notes can be found here.

FromSoftware made a tweet saying that they mistakenly nerfed the effect of Cerulean Hidden Tear with the latest update. They intend to roll out a hotfix soon.

Cerulean Hidden Tear normally eliminates FP consumption for 15 seconds, but players are reporting that the effect now lasts for less than 10 seconds after the latest update.
