来月12月10日に開催されるゲームの祭典「The Game Awards 2020」の部門別ノミネート作品が発表された。最多ノミネート作品はNaughty Dogの『The Last of Us Part II』。ゲーム・オブ・ザ・イヤー（以下、GOTY）を含む9部門（計10ノミネート）で候補に挙がっている。そのほかのGOTY候補は『あつまれ どうぶつの森』『ファイナルファンタジーVII リメイク』『ゴースト・オブ・ツシマ』といった話題作がノミネートされている。
なお今年度のThe Game Awards 2020は、昨今の情勢を考慮しオンラインのみの開催。おなじみGeoff Keighley氏がホストを務めつつ、アメリカ・ロサンゼルスとイギリス・ロンドン、日本・東京のスタジオから中継されるとのこと。以下、ノミネート作品リストとなる。
