Village-building isekai action RPG “Warota: I Live Next to The Demon King’s Castle LOL” launches in Early Access on November 13

Yes, the Demon King is an idol.

Japanese publisher One or Eight and developer Team EARTHWARS have announced that their village building action RPG title, Warota: I Live Next to The Demon King’s Castle LOL will release in Early Access on Steam starting November 13. The game will be available at a limited-time 10% discount from launch till November 20 (23:59 JST).

Presented as a comedic take on the isekai genre, Warota: I Live Next to The Demon King’s Castle LOL starts with a familiar tone, as players are put in the shoes of a poor soul who, after death is reincarnated into the fantasy world of Luna. Subjugated by the titular Demon King named Platinum, the people of Luna live in ruins, surviving over scraps left by the forces of the Demon King.

Taking on the title of “Bounder”, a rare individual blessed by the world’s goddess with the power of creation, the player is tasked with rebuilding Luna and restoring peace brick-by-brick. Living as the literall next-door neighbor to the Demon King’s lair, you’ll gather resources, recruit allies, tend to your fields, and develop your village.

However, the Demon King, who just so happens to be an idol, won’t just stand by and watch this happen. Every time she holds a live concert in her castle, hordes of monsters will gather and descend upon your village. You’ll have to team up with your villagers and fortify your defenses to fend them off. Defeating the powerful bosses will lead you to uncovering the hidden truth of the world of Luna.

This game is developed by Team EARTHWARS, who have previously released the sci-fi 2D hack-and-slash title Earth’s Dawn as well as LOST EPIC, a 2D metroidvania that depicts a war between gods and humanity.

The Early Access version of Warota: I Live Next to The Demon King’s Castle LOL will include the entire first chapter of the story, called “The Platinum Chapter.”

Team EARTHWARS have also announced that after much consideration, they have decided to delay the game’s full release, now aiming for a launch window sometime in Winter 2027. The extra time will be used to refine the game based on feedback collected from past open and close beta tests. Additionally, the statement mentions that a roadmap for the game will be revealed at a later date, providing more detailed info on the iterations the game is expected to receive as it readies up for its 2027 official release.

Warota: I Live Next to the Demon King’s Castle LOL is scheduled to release in Early Access on November 13 for PC via Steam. The game will launch with English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional) language support. PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are also planned for 2027.
