Toei announces first three titles to be published by its new game label, including 3D murder mystery revenge game KILLA

The first three titles to be published by the newly-established Toei Games are indies KILLA, HINO and DEBUG NEPHEMEE.

Toei Games, the newly-established game brand by anime and film giant Toei, has announced the first three titles it will be publishing. All three games are new, original works, and are not based on the company’s existing IPs.

KILLA

First in the lineup is KILLA, a 3D mystery adventure game developed by South Korean indie studio Black Tangerine. The story follows Valhalla, a lonely, orphaned girl who ventures to a nightmarish island seeking the killer of her mentor, whom she had treasured like family. Her mentor’s dying words and only clue left behind was “Kill the La,” but Valhalla encounters nine “La” on the island. The player must converse with them, build rapport and earn their trust to progress in pursuit of revenge. Valhalla will awaken to the special ability Resonance, which allows her to infiltrate the suspects’ memories and piece together the truth behind her mentor’s death. The game features multiple endings.

KILLA has won several indie game awards and acknowledgements during its development, and currently has a free demo out on Steam. The title is scheduled to launch on the platform sometime in 2026.

HINO

The second title published by Toei Games is HINO, by Japanese indie developer UnGloomStudio. HINO is an atmospheric 2D dark fantasy adventure game created using ballpoint pen illustrations by artist Yatara. The story follows Hino, a girl who wakes up in the dark ruins of a nursery school, and her whimsical companion Monimoni Skeleton. Confronted by eerie monsters, the two set out into the darkness seeking refuge. Throughout their journey, they draw closer to the shocking truth about the creation of the dark world they awoke in. Aside from confronting and running away from monsters and traps, you’ll also be making decisions that will determine how the story plays out.

HINO

HINO is planned to release in 2026 for PC (Steam).

DEBUG NEPHEMEE

Last but not least in Toei Games’s debut lineup is DEBUG NEPHEMEE, by Japanese indie developer Nephemee Studio. Featuring pixel art graphics and anthro-style characters, DEBUG NEPHEMEE is a 2D adventure game set in a world plagued by anomalies called “Bugs.” The game tasks you with “debugging” the creatures known as Nephemee who inhabit this world. Though infected by Bugs, the Nephemee are very much alive; they are not enemies to be destroyed, but beings seeking salvation.

DEBUG NEPHEMEE

DEBUG NEPHEMEE comes with a “multitasking” combat system, and each Nephemee you confront will possess their own values and philosophies, which manifest as the very patterns of their attacks. Through four simultaneous mini-games that require you to dodge, block, bug, and heal, you’ll hack opponents and transitioning into a “debugging” phase where you trace their personalities and memories. As you come to know the Nephemees, the story gradually evolves.

DEBUG NEPHEMEE is coming soon to Steam.
