Following the development team’s June statement regarding Suikoden STAR LEAP’s staggered release schedule, Konami has announced that the free-to-play JRPG will be available in Japan starting August 7. The release date of the global and PC (Steam) versions will be announced at a later date.
Set in the Solar Year 453 (four years before the first Suikoden), Star Leap puts you in the role of an unnamed protagonist from the lakeside village located to the east of the Scarlet Moon Empire. After a group of mysterious enemies ravages your hometown, you and three friends – Hisui, Shirin, and Shapur – set off to restore the village. During your journey, you quickly get caught up in a series of events that change the course of history.
Announced in 2025, Suikoden STAR LEAP is being developed as a fusion of mobile and console gaming. If the 108 recruitable characters (including yourself and your base party members) weren’t enough indication, the turn-based combat, mixture of light and dark themes, and deep storytelling drive home the fact that the game is being treated as a full-fledged entry to the series.
