As if the promise of updated graphics and an improved interface werenāt enough to get you interested in Steins;Gate Re:Boot, the upcoming modern reboot will also feature a brand-new ending in addition to the originalās six routes. Series producer Tatsuya Matsubara revealed as much during Magesā stage presentation at the WePlay Expo 2025 in Shanghai, China (source: Game*Spark).
Despite its namesake, Steins;Gate Re:Boot does not base its story on the original 2009 visual novel. Instead, it uses Steins;Gate Eliteās (2018) narrative as a foundation, which incorporates elements from the 2011 anime adaptation, along with new voice and animation work for the routes not explored in the anime. On top of Steins;Gate Eliteās original six routes, the remake will come with one brand-new ending. Given the amount of voice-over work and animations, playing through Re:Boot will supposedly take about 30-50 hours.

In addition to more scenes with Rintaro Okabe, Kurisu Makise, and the gang, the seventh scenario also features a new ending song by Kanako Itou, who lent her talents to Steins;Gateās many themes, including the iconic āSkyclad Observer.ā
When asked why Steins;Gate Re:Boot was delayed to 2026, Matsubara revealed during the Q&A session at WePlay Expo that due to the dev teamās enthusiasm, they ended up taking on additional tasks. These included completely reworking the music and re-recording all of the voice acting, which ultimately caused the gameās schedule to fall behind the original plan.
As for the future of Magesā SciADV multimedia franchise, of which Steins;Gate is a part, Matsubara responded that a new title is in the works. āWe can’t announce specifics yet, but we are also working on another title in parallel (with Re:Boot).ā
Steins;Gate Re:Boot is set to release in 2026. Further details are TBA.
