R-Type Tactics I・II Cosmos dev explains why the 556% crowdfunded game is delayed again
Granzella reported that their upcoming game R-Type Tactics I・II Cosmos has been delayed again. This time, the launch date for the new two-game collection in the classic horizontal shooter series has moved back from fall 2024 to sometime in 2025.
The developer revealed the disappointing news for R-Type fans in a live broadcast on YouTube on September 6. Apologizing repeatedly for the delay, R-Type Tactics’ director Kazuma Kujo explained that “We have encountered some points in the development process that require more time to be addressed, making it difficult for us to release the title in Fall 2024.”
However, Granzella seemed keen to show that they have been working hard on the twice-delayed game. As a sweeter, the developer premiered the opening for R-Type Tactics II –Operation Bitter Chocolate- in the live broadcast while explaining that it is an in-development version that needs some polishing. Kujo also posted a message for fans on X.
R-Type Tactics I・II Cosmos was first announced in 2022 and was originally scheduled for a summer 2023 release. According to Famitsu, the crowdfunded game raised a staggering 566% of its target amount, putting it under the spotlight.
R-Type Tactics I・II Cosmos is scheduled to be released in 2025 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
