Pokémon Unite to shut down on March 23, but new library feature will allow users to access some of the game’s content even after EOS

Pokémon Unite is scheduled to end services on March 23, 2027, almost six years after its launch for the Nintendo Switch in 2021.

The Pokémon Company has announced that it will shut down Pokémon Unite on March 23, 2027.

Pokémon Unite is a free-to-play MOBA, in which each player controls their Pokémon in a 5-on-5 arena battle. The game was released for the Nintendo Switch in July 2021, followed by an iOS and Android release in September. It launched in China in November 2024, and by July 2025, it had surpassed 200 million cumulative downloads globally.

In November 2025, the game ended services in the Netherlands and Belgium, with users speculating it could’ve been due to strict regulations regarding “loot boxes” in the countries. However, on October 27 this year, it was announced that both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions of Pokémon Unite would end services globally.

Additionally, further sales of Aeos games, the title’s in-game currency, as well as UNITE Club membership renewals, will be suspended as of today. The Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament is set to continue according to schedule.

Even after services end, players will be able to use a special “library” feature that allows them to view certain records and in-game content. The library feature will be a part of a new update scheduled for November 12, and players who have completed the required data download before services are terminated will have access to the feature even after the scheduled shut-down date. However, the Pokémon Company warns that library data cannot be transferred between devices, and that support for the feature will not be available after services end.
