A manga adaptation of Type-Moon’s visual novel Witch on the Holy Night will begin serialization in issue 50 of Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine on November 11. The manga follows the visual novel’s story (written by Kinoko Nasu) and features character designs by artist Hirokazu Koyama. The adaptation’s artwork is handled by Keigo Maki, creator the of Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie series.

To commemorate the upcoming release of the manga, Kodansha has released a promotional video featuring Aoko Aozaki and Sojuro Shizuki (voiced by Haruka Tomatsu and Yusuke Kobayashi respectively).

Released in 2012 for Japan, Witch on the Holy Night takes place in the fictional town of Misaki. The story follows Aoko Aozaki, a high school student who learns sorcery from her housemate, Alice Kuonji. As the heir to the Aozaki name, Aoko is tasked with protecting Misaki from magical intruders.

Disruptions in the area’s bounded field cause Aoko and Alice to investigate, leading to an altercation that results in an unknown individual spotting them using magic. Given that magic and witchcraft must be kept secret from humans, the two search for the individual. Meanwhile, a young boy named Sojuro Shizuki enrolls in Aoko’s school and becomes entangled in her magical quest.

Following the announcement, manga artists Keigo Maki posted some sketches of Aoko, Alice, and Sojuro from the manga’s planning stage. You can find more information on the Witch on the Holy Night manga on the official X account.

The Witch on the Holy Night visual novel is available on Windows (Steam), Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4, with iOS and Android ports set to release on November 20. A Witch on the Holy Night movie is set to premiere on November 20 in Japan, followed by worldwide screenings starting January 2027.
