Japanese multimedia creator and developer Uka Todoki and publisher Artodria, have just opened the Steam store page for their upcoming visual novel Girlfailure Art Club. Additionally, they unveiled the first teaser trailer for the title, which offers a glimpse into what the gameplay will look like.
Girlfailure Art Club follows the story of protagonist Mamoru Gasai, a second-year student at Akeba Academy, who decides to join his school’s art club after realizing that he doesn’t get along quite well with the popular guys from the tennis club. In a true romance visual novel fashion, he ends up being the only guy in the art club, and is forced to spend his days surrounded by four quirky otaku girls who are just excited to have his attention.

Joining you in the club are Rinne, Shoko, Kana and Yurie – each a slightly different flavor of otaku. Rinne is obsessed with obscure subculture and the underground scene, Shoko is a shonen manga fanatic, Kana is a moe-voiced cutie patootie aiming to become an anime seiyuu, and Yurie is a hardcore self-shipper (and thus the only non-romanceable heroine in the game).

The visual novel is planned to have more than 6 endings, and will clock in at approximately 8 hours. However, due to the game still being in development, all of the details are subject to change.
The Girlfailure Art Club project was started by Todoki as an effort to fill the “cringey otaku girl” niche, and apparently, a part of it was based on their personal experience being an art club member at school. The game promises “second-hand embarrassment from all the 2010s otaku culture references,” and a happy ending after you make your favorite nerdy high school girl fall in love with you.
Girlfailure Art Club is set to release in 2027 for PC (Steam).
