Kodansha has released a Steam demo for its upcoming FMV romance sim Sweet Hamster Days ahead of the game’s full release in July 2026 across Steam, Epic Games Store and DLsite. The publisher has also announced that the game will be participating in Steam Next Fest: June 2026 and announced a Wishlister gift campaign.

Sweet Hamster Days is a first-person POV romance game that follows the story of protagonist Kota, who in typical isekai fashion gets reincarnated after dying in a traffic accident. Somewhat less glamorously than the unusual isekai plotline thought, Kota gets reborn as a humble hamster. As fate would have it, his childhood friends – the Shiratori sisters – become Kota’s new owners. As Kota (or Hamta, his new name), you get to live the life of a pampered pet hamster while interacting with the three sisters – taking naps, getting cuddles and eating treats.
Living as their pet, you’ll uncover the sister’s secrets and hidden worries and help them resolve their problems. If you’re a good pet, you’ll be rewarded with “4K bonus live-action scenes,” some of which will feature the sisters in swimwear and other raunchy outfits, if the Steam page’s mature content disclosure is anything to go by. You’re probably wondering “how the hell do I romance girls as a hamster,” but the appeal seems to be centered on enjoying POV fanservice and the feeling of being coddled like a small animal.

To coincide with the demo release, Kodansha is hosting a gift raffle for users who Wishlist the game on Steam, with awards including polaroids of the cast members and Amazon Gift Cards.
Although Sweet Hamster Days was once delisted from Steam and missed its original release window in 2025, now that a demo is out, it seems the game is safely on course to launch.
With a story penned by Ken Shimomura of Chain Chronicle and Onmyoji fame, Sweet Hamster Days is set to launch in July 2026 for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and DLsite). The game will support Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
