Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment’s digital edition gets humble but welcome file size reduction

The required storage for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment's digital edition has been updated on the Japanese My Nintendo Store.

After initially listing Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment’s required storage as 44.9GB, the Japanese My Nintendo Store has since updated the game’s file size to 42.7GB. (as spotted by Game*Spark). While 2.2GB may not seem like much, for those planning to pick up the digital version, it goes a long way toward fitting several games simultaneously onto the Switch 2’s stock 250GB internal storage.

Mind that the US version of the My Nintendo Store currently still lists the game as requiring 44.9GB. This is likely to change soon to reflect the updated file size. This is likely the result of extra optimization following the game’s early announcement.

As for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment’s physical edition, it stands out among upcoming major releases for being fully stored on a game cartridge, rather than one of Nintendo’s much disputed Game-Key Cards (Final Fantasy VII Remake director Naoki Hamaguchi and former Capcom developer Masakazu Sugimori have weighed in on the medium).

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is set to release for the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 6, 2025.
