Those hesitant about buying a Nintendo Switch 2 will be happy to know that Hollow Knight: Silksong will also be available on the Nintendo Switch (the first one). PR and publishing handler Matthew Griffin recently took to social media to clarify which Nintendo platforms the long-awaited game will be released on:
Following Hollow Knight: Silksong’s fleeting five-second appearance at last week’s Switch 2-focused Nintendo Direct, many fans assumed that Team Cherry’s Metroidvania would only launch for the new Switch console. Thanks to Griffin clearing up the misunderstanding, Nintendo Switch owners can breathe a sigh of relief that the eight-year-old console still has enough power to run the fast-paced game.
Hollow Knight: Silksong was originally planned to be DLC content for Hollow Knight. After realizing that the scope of the project was too big, Team Cherry decided to make it into a full-fledged sequel. The game was first announced in 2019, which explains its compatibility with both current and previous generation consoles.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to release in 2025 for Linux, macOS, Windows, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
