Former Shueisha editor behind Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family and Dandadan announces new, independent manga platform

Shihei Lin's company, Mix Green is launching its own manga editorial department and has opened submissions for manuscripts.

Veteran manga editor Shihei Lin announced on April 17, that his company Mix Green has established a new manga editorial department and is currently accepting submissions from authors. Manga titles will be published through a new platform that’s currently in the works.

During his sixteen-year career at Shueisha, Lin served in the editorial departments of Monthly Shonen Jump, Jump Square and Shonen Jump+. After leaving the company in August 2022, he became a freelancer and established his own company, Mix Green. He’s known for being the editor in charge of numerous hit manga series, including Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family and Dandadan, and has also been involved in supervising and producing anime adaptations.

While Lin has continued to work as a Shonen Jump+ editor and remained in charge of the aforementioned manga titles following his departure from Shueisha, it seems his company is now ready to start publishing independently. Details on the new publication, including its name, remain under wraps for now, but Lin emphasizes that the project bears no connections to Shueisha or Jump+. This has come as exciting news for manga fans and led to speculation about whether Chainsaw Man author Tatsuki Fujimoto might be involved, given the series’ recent conclusion.
