Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC highlighted by Bandai Namco as contributor to highest quarterly sales in the company’s history
Given that Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC sold 5 million copies in just three days following launch, it’s not exactly a mystery how the game has been doing commercially. However, as recent financial statements from Bandai Namco Holdings suggest, the long-awaited expansion by FromSoftware contributed to record- breaking quarterly sales, and the company is even revising its forecasts to account for more revenue than originally expected.
Bandai Namco’s report for the first quarter of the fiscal year (April 1 to June 30) revealed a 24.8% year-on-year increase in net sales and an impressive net profit growth of 56.3%. The quarterly net sales, totaling 280,627 million yen, were, according to GameBiz, the highest the company has seen in its history.
As these are the figures from Bandai Namco as a whole, they include the company’s various other interests like the toy, hobby and amusement sectors. However, the report specifically highlights the performance of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which “became a worldwide hit and contributed to the results.”
In addition, Bandai Namco has announced a revision of its interim financial forecast, citing strong performance by each of its business sectors during the first quarter. The company expects to see 555 billion yen in sales, as opposed to the previous 515 billion yen, and net profit of 60 billion yen, previously forecast at 40 billion.
