DLsite’s direct payment alternative sees steady adoption following international credit card suspensions. Monthly transactions now exceed $630k

Parent company viviON has since also launched its own credit card in collaboration with JCB.

viviON, the company running major Japanese digital content platform DLsite, recently announced that its proprietary payment service “Minna no Ginko Payment” has surpassed 100 million yen (around $630 thousand USD) in monthly transaction volume.

Launched in October 2025 as a joint effort between viviON and the digital-only domestic bank Minna No Ginko, the payment service allows users to make instant and direct payments to DLsite. All users need are a viviON ID (previously known as a DLsite account) and a Minna no Ginko bank account, thus bypassing the need for intermediaries.

The payment service was launched in the wake of multiple major credit card brands becoming unavailable on DLsite due to adult content hosted on the platform. In 2024, DLsite publicly announced it would temporarily disable Visa, Mastercard and American Express payments, and to this day, the domestic JCB is the only credit card brand supported on the site. Prior to suspending transactions via international credit card brands, DLsite attempted to reclassify or rename certain tags related to adult content deemed problematic (such as loli or hypnosis tropes), but these efforts ultimately proved futile.

Minna no Ginko Payment is now one year old, and according to viviON, the service has seen steady adoption. It attracted 10,000 users within just three weeks following launch, and the volume of DLsite transactions has now exceeded 100 million yen per month.

Aside from the Minno no Ginko Payment service, viviON also went on to launch its own official credit card in January this year. Offered through the domestic credit card company JCB, the “viviON JCB Card” was envisioned as another way to ensure DLsite users could make purchases and use related services “with ease of mind.”
