Now that a month has passed since Deltarune Chapter 5’s release, creator Toby Fox has started getting fans hyped up for Chapter 6 and 7. Unlike Chapter 5, which is more lighthearted in tone, the final two chapters will allow players to “see the results of the setup that has been made so far” without any of the “wacky silly adventures.”
In his latest Deltarune newsletter, Fox says that Chapter 6 will be a “shorter, straightforward chapter that focuses on one aspect of the story.” Because of this, many aspects of the game that players might not realize are missing might come as a surprising twist. While Chapter 6’s purported short length might turn some fans off, Fox assures players that they will understand his storytelling methods once they complete Chapter 7 (which will be released separately at a later date).
Fox also provided an update on Chapter 6’s development, saying he recently finished writing a few more sequences and rearranged the level rooms to fit the new structure. Once all of these adjustments are made, the dev team will be able to play a rough draft of the chapter from start to finish. If the devs do not end up having to do any major restructuring, going forward they will be mostly focusing on finishing up the final boss and polishing cutscenes.
If all goes well, Deltarune Chapter 6 should release sometime in 2027.
