Brigandine Abyss, a fantasy strategy game with “over 200 hours of content,” gets free Steam demo

Happinet has launched the Steam demo for Brigandine Abyss, with demos for other platforms planned for the near future.

Publisher Happinet just released the free Steam demo for its upcoming turn-based strategy game, Brigandine Abyss. Players will be able to experiment with party compositions and engage in combat as the Gran Dragnica and Scarlet Will factions until Chapter 2 of the main story, although save data from the demo will not carry over to the full release.

Brigandine Abyss’s narrative centers around a coup led by the Kingdom of Solginat’s chancellor in the formation of a new empire. The game’s Story Mode has players take on the role of one of six faction leaders as they attempt to resist the empire’s oncoming invasion. While this is the third title in the series, each entry stands well enough on its own that playing the previous games isn’t a requirement.

Gameplay starts with the Organization Phase. It is here where you manage your troops, buy resources, upgrade your base, and plan your next move. Efficient resource and task management is key, as it largely determines the strength of your troops as well as your future options.

Once you’ve chosen a land to invade for resources and stronger troops, the Attack Phase begins. Combat takes place on a hexagonal grid, where you must move your troops and defeat enemy units. Each faction has its own set of soldiers, monsters, and actions, allowing for vastly different playstyles.

In addition to its Story Mode, Brigandine Abyss has a Mission Mode that allows you to select from 24 faction leaders, each with their own win conditions. All in all, the game is purported to offer over 200 hours of content.

PC players won’t be the only ones who get to experience the game ahead of time, as Happinet announced that it will provide details regarding free demos for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S editions at a later date.

Brigandine Abyss is set to release on August 27 for Windows (Steam), Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
