Palworld player achieves a sweet 1.2 million gold by farming honey since launch

A dedicated Palworld player on Reddit has amassed an absolute fortune since the game’s early access debut. As reported by GamesRadar, the source of their piles of gold is honey and patient grinding.

PocketPair’s open world survival game is set on an island inhabited by creatures called Pals. As a human who just washed up on the island, the player can construct their own bases, find and make resources, and battle and capture these creatures. Captured Pals can be used by the player as they see fit, and since Palworld’s early access release back in January, players have been coming up with their own different ways of surviving and making in-game money on the island. Along the way, various methods of exploiting the game and its systems have been discovered (such as taking advantage of a handy glitch that lets you butcher Pals for legendary schematics without killing them).

Captured Pals that have farming abilities can be placed in a ranch that you have built. In the ranch, they will automatically produce items depending on their farming-related Partner Skill. Although you can get honey from battling other Pals, you need to have captured a Beeguarde to actually farm the sticky sweet stuff.

One dedicated Palworld player took to Reddit to report that they had been farming honey ever since the game’s launch. According to user Bungeon_Dungeon post, they had amassed a staggering 45,053 jars of honey, which they sold for 1,126,325 gold- making them a Palworld millionaire.

Even if you are using Beeguarde Pals to collect honey, it would take a considerable amount of time to farm that many jars. In fact, according to Bungeon_Dungeon, he has “Had the game running almost since launch- almost scared to look at the hours played.” If the game has been running from around January 19 all the way to February 26, when this Reddit post was made, then the total playtime is probably around 900 hours. It seems that the player’s Beeguarde(s) has been mass producing honey non-stop for at least a month.

Bungeon_Dungeon’s post attracted a variety of responses. Some critical comments stated that he plays Palworld like an “idle game” and remarked on the resulting electricity bill. Many others questioned why you would ever need that much gold in the game.

A lot of Reddit commenters were puzzled by the player’s technique, arguing that there are way more easier and efficient methods to gain gold in Palworld. For example, some users suggested that gold can be earned in less time by defeating black marketeers and bosses, while others recommended making nails, which could be sold for an abnormally high price before v0.1.5.0 was released on February 27.

However, defeating bosses requires a certain amount of effort, and you must also wait for them to respawn if you are grinding for gold. The black marketer can be easily defeated by “burning him at the stake” with a campfire and a hanging trap, but this too requires the player to return to the title screen to make him reappear. As for the nail-selling technique, you must mine metal ore to create nails. Even if you leave the mining to your Pals, you still need to have chosen a suitable location for your base. Furthermore, nails have been nerfed as a good source of gold as their selling price was decreased from 160G to 20G per nail in the v0.1.5.0 update.

Therefore, the simplicity and ease of operating the “honey for money” scheme may have appealed to Bungeon_Dungeon. It does not require any operations, does not need a specific base location. All the player must do is assign the task to their Beeguarde(s) once and the process is almost complete. This may be why the OP chose to become a honey farmer.

Either way, Bungeon_Dungeon’s style of playing Palworld, a title with strong combat and adventure aspects, like an idle game has attracted a lot of positive and negative reactions. Even though it isn’t the most efficient method of earning gold, “Honey Tycoon” could be an interesting approach if you are looking for a more leisurely way to play Palworld.

Palworld is available in early access for the PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
