Palworld: here’s how you can use stairs to defeat a boss in seconds

A handy aspect of Palworld is that the game allows you to build structures even outside of your base. This could be what led someone to realize that stairs can be used as a mighty weapon in battle.

Post translation: I tried out “Stairway to Heaven,” a strategy for defeating bosses that’s viral in Korea. It even took out Jetragon in an instant. The idea is pure genius…

As demonstrated in the video above, if you lead a Pal to the top of a stairway and jump down to quickly destroy the base of the stairs, the whole stairway will collapse, causing the Pal to come crashing. In Palworld, fall damage affects both humans and Pals, and boss Pals are no exception, which means that if you create a tall enough stairway when setting up this trap, you can defeat the boss in just one blow. Make sure to have a glider on you, so you don’t meet the same fate as your opponent!

Structures in Palworld must have at least one point of contact with the ground. If this foundation is dismantled, the whole structure above it, will crumble and disappear instantly. Many players have lost hours of base-building by making this mistake, but it seems it can be exploited in a beneficial way too.

In the video below, the Jetragon is totaled, so it cannot be captured anymore. However, it might be possible to adjust the amount of damage sustained by reducing the fall height, which would make this strategy applicable for catching Pals too.

Jetragon in Palworld

There have been various accidental and intended incidents of Palworld players defeating Jetragon using fall damage, but as Stairway to Heaven doesn’t rely on the Pal’s ability to fly, it can be used against various opponents.

In response to Stairway to Heaven, many players were reminded of strategies used in Fortnite to induce fall damage. Perhaps somebody out there is already working on figuring out the perfect stair height for capturing specific boss Pals. Since its release, Palworld has amassed a record-breaking number of players, and the combination of a large community and the game’s high degree of freedom is giving birth to crazy new ideas daily.

Palworld is available in Early Access for the PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
