Clannad developer announces visual novel Prima Doll: Mumei Tenrei
Japanese studio Key announced Prima Doll: Mumei Tenrei on December 13. The kinetic visual novel is scheduled for release in 2024. An official website for the title has been revealed together with the announcement. Prima Doll: Mumei Tenrei appears to be one of the three new kinetic visual novels Key had announced on December 12.
Prima Doll: Mumei Tenrei is the second installment of the four-part Prima Doll kinetic visual novel series based on the TV anime series Prima Doll. The original 12-episode anime series by Key and Bibury Animation Studios aired from July 2022. Set in “Black Cat Café,” the anime tells the story of five autonomous mechanical dolls. The first installment of the visual novel series, titled Prima Doll: Fuyuzora Hanabi/Sekka Mon’you, was released in April 2023, and tells the of the events shortly before the opening of Black Cat Café and foreshadows the approaching war.
The upcoming sequel, Prima Doll: Mumei Tenrei, will tell of a “battlefield dominated by mechanical dolls due to the rampage of Ouka,” and of a nameless soldier of the Imperial Army who encounters Houkiboshi. They join forces to escape the hell they are trapped in. It seems that the plot is centered around the story of Houkiboshi prior to the events of the Prima Doll anime.
According to the official website, the game is aimed at all ages and is scheduled for release in 2024. As for the development staff, Tohya Okano (Genki Tenkumo), the CEO of Visual Arts, is leading the scenario. The artwork is by Bibury Animation Studios and G Angle.
The four-part Prima Doll visual novel series was announced back in September 2022, and the second and third installments were scheduled for release in 2023 and 2024, respectively. This information has now been confirmed via the official website.
Prima Doll: Mumei Tenrei is scheduled for release in 2024. Key also plans to reveal two new upcoming kinetic novels on December 14 and 15.
