Surgical horror Steam title Revenge Of The Colon to release in December

Lilou Studios announced on December 4 that they will release a new title called Revenge Of The Colon. The Switzerland-based studio’s indie horror game about performing colonoscopies is scheduled to release on December 23 for the PC (Steam).

In Revenge Of The Colon, you play as a renowned gastroenterologist at the height of your profession. The story-driven game involves treating various patients over the course of a week.

In each of the 5 chapters, you talk to a patient with colon issues and then use an endoscope to investigate further. The player navigates the patient’s insides through the claustrophobic perspective of the endoscope, identifying and treating any issues they find. The endoscope is equipped with various specialized medical equipment. It can scan and identify contents found inside the patient’s bowels and even remove parts with a laser.

Scanning the objects you find inside patients will help guide you to the appropriate treatment. For example, in one chapter the patient has an eating disorder where they consume non-food items. If one of these items becomes stuck in the intestinal wall, the procedure is to carefully remove it and stop the bleeding. It seems that you will also encounter parasites.

Revenge Of The Colon will feature multiple endings, with the outcome depending on how the game is played. The story starts off like a typical week in the life of the main character, but things soon take a strange turn. A patient complains of unusual symptoms and your examinations become nightmarish. The game’s description states that this is the protagonist’s “final week.”

The developer Lilou Studio has previously been working on an aquarium simulation game called FISHERY, which is currently available in early access. It features realistic graphics of fish and aquarium environments. In contrast, Revenge of the Colon employs unnerving retro 3D graphics reminiscent of early Playstation 1 titles. The lower resolution textures and shorter draw distance create an oppressive atmosphere inside the dark tunnels of the colon.

Revenge Of The Colon is available on December 23 for PC (Steam).
