Capcom has an “unannounced million-seller title” planned for next year. Users suspect new Monster Hunter title in the works
Capcom announced their financial results for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024. In the announcement, made on October 26, it was revealed that that Capcom will release a “major currently unannounced title” by the end of March next year. It is suggested that the title will be a million-seller that will greatly boost revenue.
In the announcement, Capcom reported an overall increase in sales and revenue for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024. Street Fighter 6 sold 2.47 million units and Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection sold 1.42 million units. The strong performance of these titles was probably a big part of the increase in sales and profit this year compared to last year.
During a Q&A portion of the conference held by Capcom, a shareholder inquired about measures to be taken to achieve the annual sales plan for new titles. In response to this, Capcom revealed “the launch of a major currently unannounced title” they have in plan.
This was followed by a question about the prospects of achieving the annual CS sales plan of 45 million units. Capcom responded that they plan to expand sales of titles released in the first half of the year and to introduce a major new title in the second half of the year (by the end of March 2024).
In their latest financial results, Capcom reported that “digital content sales for the first half of the current fiscal year totaled 22.6 million units.” This means that the hot seller Capcom is planning to release is expected to fill the gap of 22.4 million units.
Based on this information, some users suspect there could be a new addition to the Monster Hunter series coming up. Indeed, 2024 will mark the 20-year anniversary of the series, and there is already a special website launched to commemorate the milestone. Furthermore, during the conference, Capcom mentioned that the release of the mobile AR game Monster Hunter Now was envisioned as a means to raise the popularity of the Monster Hunter brand.
That said, it is unknown what the new title will be as of yet, and as it not officially announced yet, there is also the possibility of it being postponed at some point. The information available at the moment is quite enough to incite some exciting expectations, but it remains to be seen what the official announcement will reveal.
