Zelda fans recall their funniest Breath of the Wild moments ahead of the sequel

A Twitter user that goes by @zeldatalk recently posed the question, “what was the weirdest or funniest thing that happened during your playthrough of breath of the wild?” The tweet received over 1,000 responses and in this article we want to showcase some of what players shared.

Many players shared examples of memory scenes initiating while in combat. In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, there are memory locations scattered about Hyrule that play scenes of memories with Princess Zelda when players find them. You could also say these are generally the most emotionally charged moments of the game.

However, some of these memory locations are surrounded by enemies. If you trigger one of the scenes while in combat, you can be hit and sent flying right after the scene ends before even having a moment to take in what you saw. It may spoil what would have been an emotional moment, but you can’t help but laugh when it happens.

Another common type of post were the “tumbling accidents.” If you’ve played Breath of the Wild, you’ve probably tumbled, bounced, and ultimately fallen to your death before. @Mintpanda1’s video starts by rolling down from the top of a mountain and continues for roughly 30 seconds. Taking fall damage also reduces your health and Link will stop rolling after running out of health. This makes having a lot of hearts key to taking long tumbles down mountains. @EggBabyOfficial’s use of fairies allowed for an especially brutal fall.

Additionally, a large number of the overall responses featured Guardians. For example, this unusual case of a Guardian being launched through the air while still nailing its acrobatic shot. There were also examples of players being attacked by multiple Guardians at once.

A lot of players also identified with the posts about bypassing the rolling ball gimmicks found in some of the game’s shrines. These shrines feature mazes that players must roll a ball through. It’s possible to take advantage of the game’s physics to launch balls out of the mazes and to their destinations, which is something many of us have likely tried. In the below video, the player uses the sides of the maze to move the ball, but it’s also possible to flip the maze upside down and use the backside.

Players also reported meeting unfortunate fates when trying to ride dragons.

The physics and chain reactions in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild combine to create all sorts of unique and unexpected incidents. Watching these videos shows just how interesting things can get. With Tears of the Kingdom, the latest title in the series, coming in May, it might not hurt to watch some of these clips as a refresher of how interesting Breath of the Wild is.
