Publisher Sega and developer CyberConnect2 have announced that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles is coming to Nintendo Switch globally on June 10, a day after its release in Japan and Asia. It’ll include all the post-launch content, including 6 additional characters, online missions, and balance adjustments. The limited-time launch version of the physical release is already available for pre-order, and it comes with a character unlock key for Demon Slayer Academy Tanjiro Kamado.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles is a video game adaptation of the hit manga/anime series Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba-. It’s being published by Aniplex in Japan, and Sega in Asia, Europe, and North America. CyberConnect2, the company behind numerous videogame adaptations of Jump manga, handled the development. The game initially came out on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam) in October of 2021 and shipped over one million units in two weeks.

The fighting game includes a single-player Adventure Mode and an online/offline Versus Mode. The Adventure Mode lets you relive the anime’s story from season 1 to the Mugen Train movie. In the Versus Mode, you get to play as your favorite characters in a 2 vs. 2 match with up to 2 players.

A separate announcement made in Japan indicates that the Switch port will include the Kimetsu Academy Summer Uniform Costumes for Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Giyu. The Butterfly Mansion Patient Wear costumes for Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, which were a part of the Deluxe Edition bonus on other platforms, are also included.

Gameplay footage and screenshots of the Nintendo Switch version have already been released, and while the resolution and graphical details are somewhat rougher than the other versions, the toon shading seems to hold up well enough to capture the charm of the characters and visual effects. It’ll be interesting to see how well the game will perform on the hardware.
