Zenless Zone Zero player who found the combat too easy turns a bunch of coins into a custom controller

Her next goal is to play blindfolded.

When you think of titles being played with custom controllers, the genres that usually come to mind are high-difficulty ones like Soulslikes and fighting games. Rarely, if ever, do you think of free-to-play gacha games like Zenless Zone Zero. One fan of Mihoyo’s popular action RPG took it upon herself to up the game’s difficulty by creating a custom controller made entirely from US coins, specifically quarters.

By connecting one wire and quarter each to specific keyboard keys, mouse clicks, and movements, X user Daily Trigger can control up to a full team of Agents during the game’s hack-and-slash action sequences. The idea for a coin controller came about when Daily Trigger found Zenless Zone Zero’s regular combat to be too easy. After some tinkering and troubleshooting, she created a controller that suited her difficulty needs.

In the video above, Daily Trigger clears a Doppelganger Jane encounter solo using Hoshimi Miyabi. While some people raised concerns about the possibility of the coin controller electrifying the user, Daily Trigger assures everyone that it is completely safe (at least for her).

With coin controller in hand, it looks like Daily Trigger’s next challenge will be to play with it blindfolded. As her namesake implies, Daily Trigger is a big fan of Trigger, a blind sniper who uses her unique “Ether Vision” in conjunction with her remaining senses to locate and dispatch enemies. Using the game’s sound cues, Daily Trigger hopes to recreate her favorite character’s abilities in real life.

Zenless Zone Zero is available for PC (Windows), iOS, Android, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
