Yume Nikki inspired dark fantasy exploration adventure Alice in Wonder Underland – AIWU – launches today on Switch and Steam

Japanese hand-drawn surreal exploration game released worldwide on Nintendo Switch and Steam.

Japanese publisher Regista Co., Ltd. today announced the release of Alice in Wonder Underland – AIWU –, a surreal exploration adventure where players use outfit-based abilities to navigate a series of dreamlike worlds that feel both familiar and quietly unsettling. The game is launching today on Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam).

Starting as a concept more than a decade in the making and originally conceived as a manga, AIWU invites players into a world where familiar places feel subtly distorted, and where each new path depends on how you adapt.

Inspired by liminal spaces and the quiet discomfort of the familiar turned strange, AIWU offers a non-linear exploration experience centered on discovery, atmosphere, and the connections players uncover along the way.

Players follow Alice and her companion, Noir Bunny, as they journey across strange worlds in search of her lost voice. Along the way, Alice encounters unusual phenomena and collects a variety of different items.

Scattered across each world are unusual, out-of-place items. As players collect them, patterns begin to emerge, revealing connections beneath the surface. All discoveries can be reviewed in Alice’s room, complete with hand-drawn illustrations and commentary.

Alice in Wonder Underland – AIWU – also features different outfits you collect that allow you to explore more than 30 different handcrafted worlds. There is no linear path for players to take, so they can explore the different worlds at their own leisure.
