Studio Sasanqua, a Japanese video game studio led by Visions of Mana director Kenji Ozawa, announced that it is entering the indie publishing business. While the studio mainly focuses on game development, the newly revealed adventure game AFANTASIA marks the first time Studio Sasanqua is credited on a game as a publisher. In addition to this announcement, the studio also launched an official English account on X.
Developed by Brazilian independent creator noidnoidnoid, AFANTASIA is a surreal, story-driven adventure game in which you explore the small town of Tempo. Within Tempo, you will be encountering places from your past and trying to piece together a picture of who you used to be. As you interact with the environment and solve puzzles, your imagination will grow stronger, and you’ll become able to relive the memories of others as if they were your own. As you get closer to your own identity, you will eventually have to decide: Do you stay in Tempo, or do you leave for the city?
Being a collaboration between a Brazilian developer and Japanese publisher, AFANTASIA is set to present its first playable demo at Brasil Game Show 2026 and the DREAMSCAPE#5 indie showcase in Tokyo, both scheduled for this month.
“While there may be some people who are surprised to hear that a development company is entering the publishing business, I personally feel exactly the opposite. That’s because, for me and my company, ‘producing a game’ doesn’t mean to blindly follow the current trends, but having a sense of responsibility in how enjoyable a game is and how we convey it, and being able to move freely without any restraints,” Ozawa commented (Source: GameBiz).

While only one publishing title has been revealed so far, the official website of Studio Sasanqua hints at two more new games by the studio. Labeled “coming soon,” the first unannounced title will be an adventure title developed by Studio Sasanqua itself, while the developer of the unannounced action title is still under the wraps for the time being. It is yet to be seen whether Sasanqua will also publish these two games, or if it’s just involved in their development.
AFANTASIA is set to launch for PC (Steam). The release date is TBD.
