Street Fighter 6’s Ingrid unsubtly judges humanity for proliferating 6-7 meme in her absence

Street Fighter 6’s Ingrid has taken over the game's official Steam blog, and she's not happy about what humans have been up to.

Following the release of her gameplay trailer, Street Fighter 6’s Ingrid seems to have taken over the game’s official Steam blog. While the newest entry includes details about her first appearance in the franchise and abilities in the latest title, Ingrid also makes a cheeky reference to the notorious 6-7 meme that has been sweeping (some would say “plaguing”) the internet.

“Hello there, Terrans! Ingrid here to talk to you directly about how wonderful I’m going to be when I join the Street Fighter 6 roster on May 28! Wow, we’re already on the sixth installment. Feels like just a few seconds ago when I graced you with my presence, albeit not in any mainline series. How do you Terrans say it? “It’s been a long time coming,” and some obsession with the numbers “6 7” that you all started saying. Sigh, Terran civilization has a long, long road ahead of it.”

Originating from the drill rap song Doot Doot (6 7) by Skrilla, the 6-7 meme quickly gained popularity through its use in short-form videos and images, particularly in social media. Like its use in the song, the meme has no actual meaning or purpose, other than to annoy those who do not understand its unique flavor of brain rot and to make those unaware of current trends feel old.

Ingrid’s use of 6-7 appears to be Capcom’s way of acknowledging the current obsession with the meme. As Ingrid is a powerful entity separate from humanity, she offers a unique take on human culture, one that (like many people over the age of 15) cannot comprehend how two numbers can do so much damage to the human psyche.

Ingrid is set to debut in Street Fighter 6 on May 28. Street Fighter 6 is available for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows (Steam), Nintendo Switch 2, and arcade.
