Be Missed and Remembered: The Letter from Mayoiga, the debut visual from Japan’s OVERLAP GAMES, is now available on Steam. Developed by NEKOSOFT and Narcissu creator Tomo Kataoka, the title explores a mysterious summer story inspired by Japanese folklore.
Set in the countryside of Showa-era Japan, Be Missed and Be Remembered: The Letter from Mayogia, follows university student Naofuyu Matsuda, who visits his grandparents’ countryside home with his younger sister Risa during their summer vacation. There, he hears about an old local legend about a mysterious shrine that emerges from a lake only during summer. Although no one has witnessed or entered it, the rumor persists about its existence.

Following the rumors, Naofuyu sets out to find the mysterious shrine Mayoiga. Uncovering the shrine, Naofuyu discovers Su-su, a girl who has been trapped inside the shrine for years. However, due to a curse, when she leaves the shrine, she becomes something terrifying.

The title combines themes of Japanese folklore with a nostalgic countryside rural setting and a bittersweet coming of age story. The game was developed by NEKOSOFT, with Tomo Kataoka penning the scenario. The cast includes Japanese voice actors Hiroko Taguchi as Susu, and Takumi Noda as Naofuyu Matsuda.
The opening song, ‘Rainy 1970’ is performed by KawaNami while the ending song, “Madoromi SKIP TOWN,” is performed by Luce Twinkle Wink☆.
Be Missed and Remembered is out now on Steam for PC, with a 10% off campaign planned until July 20.
