Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance’s new Demon Haunts feature lets you socialize with your demons and take pics
Atlus has updated the official Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance website and released new information about the upcoming title. The new Demon Haunts system, which lets you interact with your demons and with Aogami, has users particularly excited. Many are already predicting that it will add hours to their play times.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is the definitive version of the 2021 RPG Shin Megami Tensei V. It is scheduled to release on the PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S. The upcoming title will include the new “Canon of Vengeance” route, as well as the original “Canon of Creation” storyline. Based on the player’s choices, the story will branch dramatically around the midway point, leading to completely different end routes. In addition to new demons and dungeons, the game will also implement battle related QOL improvements.
On April 11, the official Japanese website for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance was updated with details about the new features shown in the game’s latest trailer. This includes character reveals, and the new Shinjuku ward location in Da’at. However, the newly introduced Demon Haunt system has been particularly popular in the Japanese community, with users commenting, “Finally I can spend time with my fave,” and “I can tell that this is going to account for more than half of my play time.”
Demon Haunts can be accessed from the Leyline Founts that serve as save points/fast travel points in Da’at. The protagonist’s demons will appear and gather there, and the player can enjoy chatting with them and giving them gifts. Depending on your in-game progress, you can also have special conversations, from which you can earn rewards such as items and demon power ups. In Demon Haunts, you can also communicate with Aogami, and conversations with him may provide ability bonuses for the Nahobino, meaning that this could be an important part of progressing through the game.
While Shin Megami Tensei V also featured dialogue between the protagonist and Aogami, due to them being fused, players could only hear Aogami’s voice. This is why Demon Haunts letting players see and talk to Aogami is a big deal. Some people are hoping they will be able to give gifts to Aogami too and not just the demons, as they have fond memories of him in Shin Megami Tensei V.
Apart from featuring new demons, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance will also bring back numerous demons from past titles, but with brand new 3D models. This has a lot of people excited for the Dragon Haunts’ photo mode, which will allow you to take pictures of the demons in various settings.
The update also describes the new exploration element called Aogami Husks. By examining Aogami’s husks scattered throughout Da’at, you can obtain Aogami’s Essences. The reason for Aogami’s husks being scattered about is unknown, but could indicate something ominous. We look forward to seeing how Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance’s new storyline develops.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is scheduled to be released on June 14 for the PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S.

I am extremely happy about this news, i do like when JRPG’s implement more things to do that helps you level up or gain things indirectly that is not entirely just slay the monster, solve puzzle, and grind. With this i do like having special conversations and finding new ways to level up my character or get special affinities for exploration. Which is absolutely key i think in SMT V, is just that you get rewarded for looking around and doing things as a whole with good sized maps than something too big, and you are just running around with no reason at all. Can not wait for Vengeance.
