Fans of farming and life simulators might want to keep Revive! Onsen Town! on their radar, as the title features elements from both genres. Set in a rural Japanese town that lost its hot springs in a disaster, the game follows dual protagonists Shinnosuke (the young mayor) and Kyoko (a girl who visiting her family for summer vacation) as they restore the settlement to its former glory. A limited-time demo is available until October 8 for Windows (Steam).
You spend the first two days playing as Kyoko, where you learn morning activities such as catching bugs, fishing, farming, and helping out the local restaurant. Nighttime presents its own events too, such as a night market where you can fry up takoyaki and engage in mini-games like a shooting gallery.
You’ll eventually meet mayor Sinnosuke, whose job is to reconstruct the town through various projects. While you start off with small tasks such as posting on social media and maintaining the town roads, you can work your way up to bigger projects like building a radio tower and restoring the famed hot springs.
Once you reach the third in-game day, you can choose to play as either Kyoko or Shinnosuke. Selecting a protagonist locks you into that role for the day, with the other person going about their life based on your past choices.
It’s worth noting that Kyoko and Shinnosuke each have activities that are unique to them. For example, Shinnosuke has access to a car and can accept requests from the bulletin board. Though you can play exclusively as one character, the story is written in such a way that experiencing both sides reveals the full picture.
