Publisher ambr has launched a Steam store page and trailer for Laica, a space survival horror game scheduled to release in 2027.

In this first-person sci-fi adventure game, you explore a space station roamed by strange entities while spending time with a mysterious girl called Laica. The story begins with you waking up at “HOME,” a drifting space habitat. This is where you meet Laica, who appears to live there entirely on her own. You spend your days sharing meals with her, listening to music, and going on little adventures together, gradually growing closer (the developers describe it as a “slow-burn” relationship).

However, in the backdrop of this calm, something is silently consuming space itself. The game juxtaposes daily life with Laica with exploration of dangerous spaces within the station. As you move between the two worlds, the story progresses with each cycle, and the anomalies begin to seep into the quiet life you share with Laica. Eventually, even Laica herself begins to be consumed.

As your journey culminates, you will uncover the truth about Laica and the world, with your choices shaping how the story concludes. Laica’s Steam store page warns for mature content including grotesque creatures, realistic bloodshed, psychological horror, and depictions of human remains.

The game is being developed by Santa Studio, a studio under Japanese company Santa Sunrise. According to the official website, Santa Studio was formed in 2023 as a venture originating from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Engineering, and has previously worked on other titles built in Unreal Engine.

Laica is set to release in 2027 for PC (Steam).
