Following a delay that pushed anemoi’s release from January 30 to April 24, 2026, Japanese game studio Key has announced that the romance visual novel’s downloadable version will be at least 18GB, resulting from an increase in data size from “enhancements” made to the game. The limited physical edition will take up two DVD-ROMs instead of one, with no change to the overall pricing for both versions.
According to Key’s official statement from last December, the developers determined that they needed more time to achieve the initial quality level envisioned for anemoi, thus the delay. While the new March statement didn’t disclose the details of the increase in volume, 18GB is a lot of space for a visual novel, which has further fueled anticipation among Japanese fans.
In addition to Key’s promise to honor pre-orders following the change in release date, it looks like there has been no change to the price of the limited physical and digital editions, which are listed for 10,780 JPY and 7,700 JPY respectively on the official anemoi webpage (there are no confirmed details about a Western release for the game yet). Those who purchased the physical edition will also receive a download code for the game, just in case they don’t have a disc drive on their computer.
Announced in 2023, anemoi centers on Mugi Hayakawa and his younger sister Rikka as they return to the countryside town of Masumi. Though the purpose of their visit is to open a time capsule they buried ten years ago, the two run into four local girls: Spica Tsujikura, Aino Fusaba, Hiiro Awayuki, and Koyomi Shirato. As Mugi, there will be five romance options in total, with the inclusion of your sister, Rikka. Many developers from Key’s Summer Pockets visual novel are working on anemoi, namely Kai (Summer Pockets’ director who returns as a writer on anemoi), as well as Yu Nijima and Hasama (two scenario writers).
Anemoi is set to release on April 24, 2026 for PC (Windows).
