Japanese zombie novel-turned-anime to get a RTS x Tower defense adaptation that forces you to make “morally difficult decisions”

In a World Full of Zombies I’m the Only One Who Doesn’t Get Attacked, based on the anime of the same name, will launch in 2027.

Japanese game developer TENDA Games and publisher Frontier Works have announced that In a World Full of Zombies I’m the Only One Who Doesn’t Get Attacked: Road to Heaven is in the works and is expected to launch in 2027 for PC on Steam. The game is based on the anime adaptation of the light novel In a World Full of Zombies I’m the Only One Who Doesn’t Get Attacked, which is expected to air in January next year.

The story of In a World Full of Zombies follows Yusuke Takemura, a former office worker turned social shut-in who, ironically, immediately gets bitten by a zombie from the get-go. After a bite-induced fever, he wakes up to a total zombie apocalypse, only to realize that none of them seem to pay any mind to his presence. With his newfound immunity to the world’s biggest threat, Yusuke decides to take advantage of this to fulfill his hedonistic desires.

The game’s Steam store page introduces it as a “RTS and tower defense hybrid”, in which players take control of series protagonist Yusuke, as he leads his companions on a journey to a place dubbed Heaven, so called for being a zombie-free safe zone.

During a zombie attack, players take control of Yusuke as he helps his party members in ways only he can, as zombies ignore him. Players can move freely and take the heat off allies by attacking the zombies with firearms, or patch up any damage they incur.

After successfully defending waves of enemies, players will be given a limited amount of time to scrounge for spoils or look for more survivors before the next horde shows up. Materials gathered can be used to upgrade weapons or defensive facilities.

According to the game’s Steam store page, the decision of whether to save or abandon various characters will be left to the player, describing how there will be situations where they are ”forced to make harsh or morally difficult decisions”. These vary from choosing to help others, abandoning them, or demanding something in return.

In a World Full of Zombies I’m the Only One Who Doesn’t Get Attacked: Road to Heaven is set to release somewhere in 2027 and is currently in development for PC (Steam). The game will feature language support for English, Japanese, and Chinese (Traditional/Simplified).
