STUDIO 909 and game creator Kazuhide Oka have officially announced that the indie mystery game Quiet Express: Cabin 909 will launch in 2027 via Steam. A new trailer showcasing the game’s moody 3D visuals was released together with the announcement.
In Quiet Express: Cabin 909, you board the titular Quiet Express, a transcontinental train scheduled to reach its final destination in seven days. However, on the seventh day, the train gets caught up in a catastrophic accident, killing every passenger and crew member on board. Instead of meeting your demise, however, you find yourself waking up inside the Quiet Express just as it was when it first departed. Time has been wound back seven days, and you must find a way to prevent the accident before reaching the final station. As you go through a cycle of the same 7-day loop every time you die, you’ll gradually move closer to the truth.
Gameplay revolves around exploring the Quiet Express in search of an elusive “Cabin 909.” No such room is supposed to exist on the train, and none of the crew members know about it. As you navigate the train, you will meet other passengers, and by learning about their stories and completing their requests, the mystery will slowly unravel. Passengers aren’t limited to just humans, as you’ll be encountering beastmen, giants and homunculi who all bear their own anxieties and issues.

Exploration starts at the very rear of the train, and as you progress towards the locomotive, the Quiet Express’s cars will rearrange based on a mix of RNG and your choices. At each door, you’ll randomly draw three types of trains cars (such as passenger cars, dining cars or cargo cars) and choose which to enter next. The items you discover through exploration may help you reroll or even gain a fourth option. On your way, you’ll encounter locks, puzzles, secret attics, and other mysteries.

Quiet Express: Cabin 909’s development is headed by Kazuhide Oka, director of the “Overwhelmingly Positive” post-apocalyptic adventure game GIRLS MADE PUDDING. In an update on X, Kazuhide commented that while his new game takes on a stronger mystery theme, it still has the underlying chill and wanderlust of his pervious title. He formed STUDIO 909 specifically for the development of this project.
Quiet Express: Cabin 909 is scheduled to release in 2027 for PC (Steam).
