Japanese pesticide maker launches bizarre cockroach-man dating game where all characters are played by Eren voice actor Yuki Kaji

Japanese pesticide and hygiene product manufacturer Earth Corporation recently launched Gokigen Lovely Days, a free browser-based otome visual novel celebrating Insect Repellent Awareness Day on June 3 (June 4 in Japan). Played in first-person, the game lets you romance four completely normal-looking hot guys that are not at all hiding a secret insectoid identity. Interestingly, all four of them are played by Yuki Kaji, known for his roles as Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan and Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia.

Strolling around on a lonely night, the heroine gets to encounter Kuro, the “prince on a white horse,” Chaba, the cute bespectacled younger brother type, Yamato, the suave Japanese gentleman, and Wamon, the reliable, beer-loving big brother type. For those of you not familiar with Japanese, the names of the four characters sound oddly similar to different species of cockroaches – kuro-gokiburi (smokybrown cockroach), chabane-gokiburi (German cockroach), yamato-gokiburi (Japanese cockroach), and wamon-gokiburi (American cockroach).

As for the gameplay, the visual novel actually features an “affinity” system. If you want the best possible outcome, you’ll need to pay close attention to the characters’ behavior, which is coincidentally based on the habits and ecology of insects. Based on your choices, the branching story will lead you to different possible endings, and you’ll get to learn of your love interest’s “true intentions,” whatever they may be.

The project serves as a promotion of Earth Pharmaceutical’s Gokisshu Su Sugoi! cockroach-repelling spray, and also features some handy tips on how to fend against the pests.

Gokigen Lovely Days is available for free via browser, and is compatible with both PC and Mobile. The game is available only in Japanese and will be playable via the official website until September 3, 2026.
