US-based adult manga and game publisher Fakku announced during their panel at Anime Expo on July 5th that it had recently acquired the rights to the entire back catalogue of PC games from eroge developer Fairytale, including those released under their sister brand Cocktail Soft. As a result, several of their iconic titles are slated to release for modern Windows PCs with full English support.
The first of these planned releases is the 1992 title Dengeki Nurse, which originally released on NEC PC-98 computer platforms, followed by a port to the Fujitsu FM Towns later that year. The game features a colorful, hyperactive art style and an equally deranged plot concerning a hospital, an international crime syndicate, female assassins, tokusatsu-style heroes, and more. The core gameplay revolves around point and click adventure segments and wacky looking turn-based RPG battles.
Unlike some of Fairytale’s other well-known works, Dengeki Nurse is on the tamer side of the eroge spectrum, with very little in the way of explicit sexual content. There are brief patches of nudity and sexual situations, however, making it a strictly 18+ affair. Fakku has not yet stated whether the adult content will be included in the vanilla Steam release or distributed via an external patch as other Steam publishers of Japanese eroge are known to do.
On a related note, Fairytale and Cocktail Soft, collectively known as F&C, were a major player in the early days of Japanese adult computer games, with titles such as Can Can Bunny and the infamous Saori: Bishojo-tachi no Yakata defining their early output. Their most famous game is arguably Pia Carrot e Youkoso!! ~We’ve Been Waiting For You~ which spawned a series spanning numerous ports, sequels, and anime adaptations.
The original Pia Carrot is confirmed to be one of the titles coming to PC from Fakku in the near future, along with horror titles like Dead of the Brain 1&2, Necronomicon, Marine Philt, A Man Called DRACULA, and more. The Steam store page for Dengeki Nurse is live now, with no release date listed yet. Store pages for the remaining announced titles are yet to be revealed.
