Hololive to hold wholesome roleplaying event in Grand Theft Auto 5

VTubers with cute anime avatars and the tough streets of Grand Theft Auto 5’s Los Santos are two things you would not expect to see together. However, Hololive VTubers will be holding their own roleplaying event in GTA5 from September 17 to 23, hosted by Miko Sakura and Suisei Hoshimachi.

The event will be held on a special server and streamed live. In the renamed city of “Holo Santos,” over 40 Hololive members have been assigned roles ranging from police, emergency responders, gang members, mechanics and shop owners. Many of the Hololive players are GTA5 newbies so the server rules will be more relaxed than other online games. The focus will be on each VTuber playing their role as themselves.

Hololive GTA will remove many of the more adult aspects of Grand Theft Auto so that it can be streamed without age restrictions. The VTubers will have to stay alive in the city. This includes remembering to eat when they are hungry, calling emergency services if they get hit by a car and keeping their stress levels down by doing things like taking “medicine” and drinking (okay, this part seems like it could be slightly adult). Therefore, the VTubers will need to call upon and help each other if they are going to make it in Hololive’s less murderous take on Los Santos.

Interestingly, according to Famitsu, three Hololive members who will be playing don’t have an assigned role. It will be interesting to see what they end up doing when the broadcast starts.

Hololive GTA will be broadcast from September 17 to 23 from 7pm until 1am JST (from the 3rd day, the broadcast may be extended until 3am).
