Hollywood live-action Gundam movie in production by Legendary and Bandai Namco Filmworks 

Bandai Namco Filmworks announced on February 5 that it has signed a joint investment agreement with Legendary Entertainment. The two companies are working on a live-action film adaptation of the Mobile Suit Gundam series. 

Tentatively titled GUNDAM, the Hollywood take on the long-running mecha series is directed and written by Jim Mickle, known for his work on Netflix’s Sweet Tooth. 

In preparation for the new film’s production and release, Bandai Namco will establish Bandai Namco Filmworks America, a new wholly owned subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings USA. The new company will begin operations as of April 1, 2025 and contribute towards the expansion and licensing of the Gundam brand outside of Japan (source: Oricon News).

So far, the Gundam series has seen 25 TV anime series 34 theatrical and cinematic releases, 27 OVAs, and various specials. The latest entry in the series, the animated film Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, has seen massive success in Japan and will be making its way North America (GKIDS), Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand on February 28.
