Sanrio, the company behind wildly popular character brands like Hello Kitty, Kuromi and Cinamoroll, announced the launch of its own game brand Sanrio Games on April 21. Their first title, Sanrio Party Land, is set to launch simultaneously worldwide in the fall of 2026 for Nintendo Switch systems.
The upcoming title is described as a party game set in a town populated by numerous Sanrio characters. You create your own original avatar and play minigames and board games alongside familiar Sanrio faces. Aside from Sanrio Party Land, Sanrio Games has other projects currently in pre-production or full development. Another unannounced console title is planned to drop during the current fiscal year (April 2026 to March 2027), and in the long term, the company plans to release 10 titles by March 2029. Information about each game, including details on Sanrio Party Land’s gameplay and respective release dates, will be unveiled gradually.

This move comes following the worldwide success of Sanrio’s recent anime venture on Netflix, with the 2025 premiere of My Melody & Kuromi, and the announcement of a Hollywood-produced Hello Kity movie set to release globally in 2028. It seems Sanrio is targeting the global video game market as the next step in expanding its popular IPs.
