Guilty Gear Strive’s latest update causes character models to disappear when viewed from inappropriate angles

Guilty Gear Strive’s 1.41 patch introduced the long-awaited Team of 3 mode, as well as several bug fixes and sneaky changes. One of these changes causes certain characters to disappear when viewing their models from below in the Digital Figure mode:

Post translation: Adjustments to the Digital Figure mode of Guilty Gear Strive, whose age rating was suddenly changed to CERO C – “We have adjusted the display restriction area that makes the figure invisible when certain parts of the figure are captured by the camera.”

While the invisible model change is more noticeable when viewing the game’s female characters (Jack-O’, Millia, and Bridget, just to name a few), male characters will also disappear when viewed directly from below.

Male characters wearing revealing clothing like obi or skirts (such as Nagoriyuki and Testament respectively) seem to have larger triggers that make them invisible, while those wearing more conservative bottom garments like Sol and Ky require more effort for them to disappear. You can still see less-flattering poses of Sol, Potemkin, and the guys, but you have to get more creative with your camera shots this time around.

This invisible model change could have been implemented as a response to Guilty Gear Strive’s PlayStation versions having their age rating changed from CERO B to CERO C, potentially reducing the game’s player base. While the number of people who view Guilty Gear Strive digital figures from weird angles isn’t particularly high (it mostly includes children and video game writers such as myself), this is still a respectable effort by Arc System Works to keep the game accessible to as many people as possible.
