Studio Fahrenheit 213 (213℉) has announced a combat-focused closed beta test for its upcoming game TSURUGIHIME. Applications are now open and will be accepted until August 23. The beta itself is scheduled for August 25, with a limit of 100 participants.
Tsurugihime is a side-scrolling action RPG set to release in Early Access within 2026. The story follows Arche, a sword-wielding heroine, as she spends the 100 days leading up to a decisive battle. The world she lives in is threatened by Kugutsu – lifeless puppets driven solely by instinct. They attack humans on sight, and the strength of humans alone is not enough to stop them. Arche possesses the unique power of the Tsurugi, which can rewrite fate itself and functions like a “game-breaking” force.

The concept of Tsurugihime lies in “crafting” every aspect of the game and its outcome with your choices, leading to multiple possible endings. During the 100 days with Arche, players navigate the story, character progression (including raising Arche’s little sister), exploration, weapons and more. You can choose to battle and grow stronger over the 100 days, or even to spend the whole time in peace without fighting, suggesting a high degree of freedom.

Tsurugihime is directed by Yosuke Shiokawa, known for his work on Fate/Grand Order, Kingdom Hearts, and Dissidia: Final Fantasy. As development moves along, Shiokawa’s team has decided to take the game’s combat for a spin in the upcoming closed beta. The test will use a dedicated game with special rules, designed to let players interact exclusively with the tactical/action gameplay. Detailed notes on available actions and controls are available on the Steam news hub and official Discord server. Applications will be open until August 23.
TSURUGIHIME is set to release in Early Access on Steam in 2026.
