Following a series of cryptic lore teasers and bite-sized character reveals, Dynamis One and NC have (partially) lifted the veil on Astrae Oratio’s gameplay. A trailer published on June 2 showcases the upcoming RPG’s combat and 3D cinematic sequences.
Dubbed a “magic x bureaucracy” RPG,” Astrae Oratio (officially abbreviated to “Asora”) is set in Tokyo in 1889, or the ninth year of the fictional Reisei Era. While the visuals may seem anachronistic for the timeline, the game is set in a world where magic exists, and technology, culture and civilization have “accelerated nearly a hundred years beyond what we know today.”

The player takes on the role of the Shunin, a low-ranking public official, who is assigned to a mysterious institution known as the Special District Office. It turns out to be an agency responsible for overseeing the administrative affairs of magicians living in Tokyo while concealing their true identities, and the Shunin alone is tasked with handling the city’s various magician-related incidents.
Astrae Oratio’s new trailer showcases the game’s story sections, where dialogue progresses through choices, as well as battle scenes. The UI reveals what appears to be a turn-based combat system (judging by the AP count and command menu) as well as a combo system. The bottom left corner displays a small icon of the active character, suggesting players will be forming parties of several members. The top left corner displays what look to be “auto battle” and “speed up” controls. The battle scenes are 3D with cinematic sequences for skill activations. It’s worth noting though, that all of the trailer’s in-game footage is marked as “work-in-progress.”

Dynamis One, the development studio behind Astrae Oratio, is headed by Park Byung-Lim, a former co-director of Nexon’s Blue Archive, and isakusan, who was likewise a scenario writer for the title.
Further updates on Astrae Oratio are due to be released via the official homepage and X account.
