Extreme death game ARPG Tribe Nine attracts a predominantly English-speaking playerbase with limited-time Steam demo
Akatsuki Games released Tribe Nine’s “Deadly Demo” version on October 15 as part of Steam Next Fest 2024. Offering over 20 hours of content, the demo has generated significant interest, but according to the publisher, a majority of players come from English-speaking countries.
Tribe Nine is an “extreme” death game ARPG co-developed by Akatsuki Games and Too Kyoo Games, the latter of which consists of core members of the Danganronpa series’ development team. The upcoming title boasts a scenario by Kazutaka Kodaka and music by Danganronpa series composer Masashi Takada and Splatoon series composer Ryo Nagamatsu. Character designs were done by Rui Komatsuzaki and Shimadoriru, who were both involved in developing Danganronpa’s distinct visual style.
Although Tribe Nine is a live-service/gacha game developed for mobile platforms, it has surprisingly made its way to Steam too. The demo version has seen a maximum concurrent player count of 1,803 (SteamDB), ranking highly among the new demos showcased during Next Fest.
Akatsuki Games told AUTOMATON that 70% of users playing Tribe Nine’s demo are from English-speaking countries. The publisher has been focusing on giving the title exposure overseas, such as by showcasing a trailer at gamescom’s Opening Night Live, and these efforts seem to have paid off.
Currently, Tribe Nine has a Mixed review status on Steam, and users are mostly divided about the game’s combat mechanics and the difficulty of enemies. This version of the game included many adjustments made based on the results of past testing, and new feedback from the demo will likewise be reflected in the game’s future development.
Tribe Nine’s demo will be available for the PC (Steam) until October 22.
