The HD remaster of kissing RPG EXSTETRA has officially launched on Steam. Developed by Studio Saizensen and published by FuRyu, the original game was released exclusively in Japan for the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Vita in November 2013. To commemorate the modern, global revival, FuRyu is holding a two-week-long sale for the game, with a 20% discount for the base edition and a 14% discount for the digital deluxe edition.
EXSTETRA is set in Amazea, a world where modern-day Tokyo has fused with another realm. The story follows Ryoma, an amnesiac high school student who discovers he is the “Prisma” – the chosen one meant to save Amazea from its impending doom. Throughout his journey, Ryoma encounters allies (both male and female) who have the potential to aid him in his quest. Ryoma can awaken this potential by kissing them and turning them into Prisma Knights.
Combat is turn-based and allows for up to four Prisma Knights to be active on the field. Aside from moves that cost MP, EXSTETRA features skills that require a unique resource known as “EXS,” which only Ryoma is capable of using. Ryoma can share the EXS he accumulates from fallen enemies with his allies by kissing them, which can power them up and turn the tide of battle (there is even an auto-battle function in case you want to speed things up). Aside from EXS skills, the positioning of your Prisma Knights, as well as their equipment and bond with you, play an important role in combat.
Outside of battle, EXSTETRA allows you to explore familiar Japanese locations such as Shibuya and Akihabara, all of which have become overrun by nature and monsters. You’ll also be able to foster your relationships with your allies, which will make them stronger.
EXSTETRA is available on Windows (Steam), with versions for the Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, as well as PlayStation 5, set to release at a later date.
