Elden Ring DLC has an elusive “third” Tree Sentinel in Hinterland that respawns infinitely
Some Elden Ring players have reported sightings of a mysterious Tree Sentinel found near Hinterland in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, according to Game*Spark. While this area is home to two Tree Sentinel bosses, a third Tree Sentinel sometimes appears when approaching from the nearby Shaman Village.
Players most likely remember this place as the area just after using the “O Mother” gesture on the Marika statue near the Shadow Keep, Back Site of Grace. To spawn the third Tree Sentinel, travel to the Shaman Village and make your way southeast to the cliff that overlooks Rabbath’s Rise. Return to the village after doing so and you may find the elusive third Tree Sentinel that people are talking about.
Unlike the two Tree Sentinels that roam the entrance of Hinterland, this third Tree Sentinel doesn’t drop any Runes or items when defeated – which is a shame considering it reappears whenever you follow the same steps listed above. Going to the edge of the Shaman Village and back seems to be the only way to respawn the Tree Sentinel, as resting at a Site of Grace does not cause it to reappear again (it will even respawn if players follow the steps before resting at a Site of Grace).
A good number of players have already mentioned this strange occurrence online. Many surmise that this third Tree Sentinel is a bug due to the strange way that it spawns and how it doesn’t drop any items. Others think it was a scrapped boss in Shaman Village that somehow made its way into the final game. Whatever the case may be, this mysterious Tree Sentinel just added a bunch of new theories to an already perplexing DLC.
