I am absolutely devastated by this news, I literally do not wish to believe it. I always believed he would be around for so much longer and I always believed he was in such good health he could be around for a long time even 20. It does not feel like it was his time to go. At times I hope modern medicine can prevent all of these people from passing on so early. Because I want them to live for so much longer. It feels unfair.
Dragon Ball is literally what brought Anime into the mainstream in America and made people check out Manga in the first place. There was no mainstream Anime like Pokémon and Sailor Moon until much later in this country in the beginning.
Toriyama’s designs are very unique and always cheerful. His fanservice and fetishes are absolutely amazing as well, storytelling is always an exciting read. Always a funny guy that even to this day many here quote and make memes of his works. Even the Vegeta Kneel is a new generation of memes that prove Dragon Balls popularity is everlasting including Dragon’s Quest.
Losing Toriyama is like losing Nobunaga. So influential in Manga and Anime even in Video Games. He made sure to take care of everyone, build a foundation and to pass on the torch for us all to take and move it forward.
I will greatly miss him and I appreciate everything he has done for Japanese Entertainment.
Thank you Toriyama. May you rest easy and beyond.
