Disgaea creator Sohei Niikawa’s new “devil-training SRPG” lets you detonate your own allies to farm evil misdeeds and grow stronger

Arc System Works has released a trailer showcasing Demons’ Night Fever, an upcoming RPG produced and written by Sohei Niikawa – former Nippon Ichi Software CEO and creator of the Disgaea series. The title is set to launch in 2026 for PC (Steam), PS5, and Nintendo Switch.

Demons’ Night Fever is a “speedrun-training SRPG” based on classic grid-based strategy games. The story follows the most wicked devil in the world, known as Giga Super Death, who suddenly gets transformed into a helpless baby. After forming a bizarre pact with Killshiro Katanaka, a gloomy young man who despises the world, he sets out to wreak havoc and commit every conceivable act of evil in order to regain his lost power.

In the game’s training sections, you’ll raise Giga Super Death and his underlings and prepare them for battle. Progression is, of course, driven by wicked deeds. By committing misdeeds like suspicious Adbuctions and Pillaging, you’ll earn “Perverse Points” to spend on leveling up your characters and building Giga Super Death’s evil army.

Battles take on a grid-based SRPG format, but with some significant twists. While your objective is to beat the game’s bosses and ultimately the world’s “false” God, combat revolves around a Peon Exploitation System, which lets you sacrifice allied minions. Using Kill Skills and Sacrifices, which detonate you underlings, will be the fastest way to victory. Whether friend or foe, the more units die, the stronger you’ll get.

Developed jointly by Drecom and SuperNiche, Demon’s Night Fever is produced by Sohei Niikawa, with an original concept and scenario penned by Roman Kitayama (who is also Sohei Niikawa, under a pseudonym). The game’s OST is by Atelier series composer Tatsuya Yano, with character designs by Yuji Himukai (Etrian Odyssey).

Demons’ Night Fever is set to launch in 2026 for PC (Steam), PS5, and Nintendo Switch.
