Deltarune creator Toby Fox asks fans to test new chapter switch feature on PC
While Toby Fox is hard at work finishing up Deltarune’s third and fourth chapters for their planned 2025 release dates, he hasn’t forgotten about the game’s first two chapters. The Undertale and Deltarune creator recently asked PC players to test a new command to switch chapters and report any issues they encounter:
Players can get Deltarune’s first two chapters for free on itch.io or Steam. To access the chapter select feature, however, they will need to download the LTS version of the game on itch.io, or switch to Steam’s beta version. Those who find any bugs or issues with the game can report them via a dedicated Google Docs page created by Toby Fox himself.
While this new build of Deltarune was supposed to run the same as the previous one, Fox has already found several crash-inducing scenarios, many of which can be found in Chapter 2. Most of these scenarios were fixed before the new build was launched, but there are still a few instances (such as the one where Kris can give a present to one of their party members) where Deltarune can forcibly shut down due to the presence of something called a “Malformed Variable” in the game’s code.
Toby Fox is known for monitoring his games’ issues, so it’s likely that he is already working to fix these game-breaking bugs even before all the feedback on the game’s chapter select feature has been collected.
